One of the eldest residents of our county, John Gottlieb Andre closed his eyes in death on May 1, 1909 at the ripe old age of 93 years, after years of patiently waiting to be relieved from all earthly sufferings. Deceased was born in the province of Posen, Prussia where he was married in 1839 to Miss Caroline Langholff, who preceded him in death in November 1908. Four sons and two daughters were born to them, of whom one son and one daughter have died. In 1849 they came to this country and settled on a farm in the town of Hebron. Later they resided in Fort Atkinson and for a few years at Golden Lake. Six years ago they were compelled to seek shelter at the county house as sickness and the infirmities of old age made it impossible for them to care for themselves.
Three sons, one daughter and other relatives survive.
The funeral services were held last Wednesday and the remains interred
at the Evergreen Cemetery at Fort Atkinson. May he, after life's hard
and bitter struggles, rest in peace.
